02 Apr Mud Kid out now!
Coming off an adventurous long-player in 2015, Seattle native Slothfella is welcomed to our roster in his most recent explorations, entitled Mud Kid. The amicable EP proves a fulfilling jaunt through lushly painted digital soundscapes, still incorporating the triumphant video game edge that permeated and defined his last record. Opening track “Aurora” not only lives up to its name but also sets the stage for the whole work, evoking daydreams of what it might be like to fly through the Aurora Borealis in a futuristic orbital vessel.
We first caught wind of this honorary Bostonian (known IRL as Dylan Hanwright) through his (now defunct) band I Kill Giants, an emotional punk group widely coveted in DIY circles a couple years back. Though he studied Electronic Production & Design and Video Game Scoring at Berklee College of Music, he’s deeply rooted in punk rock, citing Emperor X and The Brave Little Abacus as artists that inspire him to write better music. These days, you may also happen upon him ripping it with Great Grandpa and Trashlord. Please enjoy his latest offering and link up with him on soundcloud or facebook!
Mud Kid is recommended for fans of Katie Dey, Com Truise, Floor Baba, Vektroid, and the Super Mario 64 soundtrack. The EP is PWYC on bandcamp, accessible here.
