03 Jul Boy Friends announce their next album with single, “marescape”
Our favorite local chimeric post-punkists in Boy Friends are coming off a small stint on the East Coast as they gear up to release their upcoming full length, fragilism! Just before their short tour they revealed the first song from the record, which you can stream in the embed below. “marescape” entertains a frantic urgency, featuring a siren-like guitar lead laden with the rhythmic stylings that make this band so unique. The song has a punkish edge but never once consumes itself with punkish tropes, perfectly attuned to its lyric, pull yourself away and be master of all you survey.
Together, Cas (guitar/voice), Andrew (bass), and Evan (drums) promise an interconnection of pop and punk, translating the former through accessible intrigue, and the latter through a tasteful refinement of the cultural institution itself. With the announcement of fragilism, the group seems poised to reel in a modern focus of the incessant machinations of punk and pop crossover. Stay tuned for the album’s release date and make sure to follow the band on facebook so you don’t miss any shows!
